Guardiola Declares Manchester City as Final Club; Open to Managing a National Team

Pep Guardiola, one of football’s most celebrated managers, announced on Tuesday (10) that Manchester City will be the final club he coaches. The statement came during a press conference ahead of the Champions League match against Juventus, set for Wednesday (11) at Allianz Stadium in Turin, Italy.

“I’ll stop. I’m not going to coach any other club after City,” said Guardiola. “I’m not talking about the distant future, but what I won’t do is leave here, go to another country, and do the same thing I’m doing today. Maybe with a national team, but that’s a different situation.”

This declaration reignites speculation about Guardiola’s potential future in international football. His name has previously been linked to national teams such as Brazil and England, especially as his contract with Manchester City neared its expiration. However, in November, the club extended his contract until 2026, with an option for further renewal.

On the field, City is facing challenges, enduring a streak of seven matches without a win, including five consecutive losses. Despite these setbacks, Guardiola remains a key figure in the club’s long-term plans.

This isn’t the first time Guardiola has shared thoughts on his future. In previous interviews, he expressed a desire to eventually serve as president of Barcelona, further fueling curiosity about his post-City career.

The football world now watches to see whether Guardiola’s ambitions for international management will come to fruition.
