Court of Arbitration for Sport Suspends Athletes Failing Doping Tests in Paris

In a test conducted on July 23, Iraqi athlete Sajjad Sehen tested positive for methandienone and boldenone, anabolic steroids banned by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).

Sehen requested a retest and a hearing with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), which confirmed the suspension. Consequently, he was unable to participate in the Olympics. The Iraqi judoka was set to compete in the under 81kg category.

Additionally, Nigerian boxer Cynthia Temitayo Ogunsemilore was found to have the substance furosemide in her test. Furosemide is classified under the S5 category of diuretics and masking agents according to WADA’s list of prohibited substances.

Ogunsemilore, aged 22, competes in the women’s boxing lightweight category (up to 60kg). Given these circumstances, she was also provisionally suspended following a hearing by CAS.
