In its worst campaign in history, the Detroit Pistons equaled a dismal NBA record on Saturday. Defeated by the Brooklyn Nets 126-115 in New York, the traditional team suffered its 26th consecutive loss. Thus, it shares the record for the most consecutive defeats in a season with the Cleveland Cavaliers from 2010/11 and the Philadelphia 76ers from 2013/2014.
The Pistons, sitting at the bottom of the Eastern Conference with two wins and 27 losses, haven’t won a game in almost two months, since October 28 when they beat the Chicago Bulls 118-102.
Mikal Bridges of the Nets was the standout player in the game against Detroit. The New York franchise’s forward was the leading scorer of the match with 26 points. With the victory, the Brooklyn Nets are in the ninth position in the Eastern Conference, with 14 wins and 15 losses.
The Pistons’ next goal is to avoid another negative record. If they lose two more games, they will tie with the 76ers for the most consecutive losses in NBA history – not just in one season. Between 2014/15 and 2015/16, the Philadelphia team suffered 28 consecutive defeats.
